Perception is Reality

This is the picture of Mansoor Khan. He is the father of two daughters whom he set on fire for falling in love.

He could even be Suresh Shinde. He delivers dabba to Elite Estates everyday. He was caught by the police for being present on the scene of the murder, because he was the only one left. Everyone else fled. He might be proved to have killed the victim and be sentenced for life.

Or is it Sanjay Dutt? Well, looks like. Look again. The next picture will immediately make you tick the right option in your head. Its the scene outside the police van in which he is being carried.

It's just a face. It's just a body. It's just a name. Perception towards the same things creates what a difference! Would the media be going that crazy for Mansoor Khan or Suresh Shinde? Whatever the crime was. Aren't we sure that even if its a safety pin that pricks a celebrity, it becomes national breaking news. In the picture, doesn't Sanjay look like any other menial thief who was pushed into the van for breaking a signal and arguing with the police? This is not to talk about how derogatory news has become, but about how the whole world is about perceptions.

It is not how a face is, but what a face stands to be. The same set of organs performing exactly the same functions. Not an eye more, not a ear less. And yet, what can one become and what can one not become in this very lifetime.
